Several days post the devastating hurricane pummelled into the island's west coast with historic intensity, locals in affected areas by the shoreline are persistently anticipating for help.

Multiple routes are clogged with rubble and communities are stranded with scarce supplies, lacking utilities, and unknown restoration dates.

Growing Fatalities

The government said on the weekend that a minimum of 28 persons in Jamaica have died since the hurricane hit as a devastating Category 5 hurricane with nearly 300 km/h wind speeds.

That is a near 50% jump in the fatalities within a day, and the number could rise as authorities make progress into additional regions in the near future.

Local Consequences

Of his farm, he said: "It's all wrecked. They all destroyed" But he promptly continued: "We must express gratitude for survival"

International Assistance

Meanwhile, external support is commencing delivery into Jamaica.

United States officials stated that its Disaster Assistance Response Team had made entry. And countries including the UK have also pledged millions in aid relief funds and emergency supplies.
