Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
