But, the Miami team were not distracted as they recorded 86 opening half points to lead the Grizzlies by 39 at halftime, the biggest half-time advantage in the team's 37 year existence.
Bam Adebayo top-scored with twenty-four points and afterwards said Terry had the team's full backing.
"We support him. Full support," Bam stated. "We are with him all the way. That's our brother at the end of the day."
Heat coach Spoelstra added: "Terry is a person who is important to everyone. He has made a real positive impact on our team.
"Our thoughts are with him and support for him as he goes through the situation."
The Trail Blazers also secured their initial match since the detentions, with Brazilian Tiago Splitter taking over as temporary head coach in Chauncey's absence and leading the squad to a convincing 139-119 win over the Golden State Warriors.
"Everyone experienced great experiences with Billups and his coaching style," Tiago said. "We're thinking of him and his family but we have a job to do."
League Commissioner Adam Silver 'Disturbed' over Recent Events
Speaking about the arrests for the first time, NBA commissioner Adam Silver stated he was "deeply disturbed" by the events of the past few days.
"Nothing is more critical to the league and supporters than the fairness of the game," he told Amazon Prime. "And so I had a pit in my stomach. It was disturbing."
Silver further mentioned an league probe into the player's actions in March 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a match he played for the Hornets versus the New Orleans Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.
"It was brought to our attention by the regulators and the gambling firms," he added.
"We then looked into the matter and were very transparent about it. And while there was that aberrational betting, we, frankly, found no evidence.
"The federal government has subpoena power... [it] can impose penalties, can do all kinds of things that the league office is unable to.
"Therefore, we've been working with them since then. And, of course, what they announced recently was an indictment.
"And 30 months later, he still hasn't been convicted of anything, in justice to Terry.
"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been suspended, and so it is a compromise in this case between upholding rights and investigating."
